Its name derives from its location in the Braço de Prata neighborhood, in the eastern part of the city of Lisbon . Currently, the former facilities of its Administration house a private cultural center .
FBP was later integrated into the state-owned defense industry group INDEP , being deactivated in the 1990s.
In June 2007 , part of the old factory facilities were transformed into the Fábrica Braço de Prata , a private cultural center , which includes bookstores , exhibition halls, cinema and theater rooms and a music performance hall.
